ZZT |
ZZT is one of those games that when you first look at it you initially think it can't be fun. After all how fun can a ASCII based game be. ZZT will change your mind about that. With amazing 16 color graphics and beautiful pc speaker sound you could not ask for much more in 1991 (joke). Despite the limitations given working with ASCII zzt actually looks good. The built in editor is also great. zzt also has a built in language to program objects. This was the first game I bought back in 1993 and I found myself sitting for 10-14 hours just designing levels for this game. Sadly none exist today. I wanted badly to give this game a perfect score but I realize my love for this game may have clouded my judgment so I pulled back a bit. If your a fan of adventure and puzzle type games and don't mind the lack of real graphics then you'll love ZZT. If your a fan of 256 color or better type graphics then you might want to pass ZZT by. This game says "Registered version" but Epic has released the registered version for free. |
